G7 Finance Ministers Focus on Global Stability

Finance ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) countries have gathered in Banff, Canada, to discuss pressing global economic issues. Their agenda centers around promoting economic stability, countering financial crimes, and tackling unfair trade practices—particularly those related to excess manufacturing and non-market economies. The meeting comes amid strained relations, especially after the United States imposed new tariffs that have affected several G7 partners. A key point of discussion is also the ongoing war in Ukraine. Canada has pledged continued support, particularly in helping Ukraine’s pension system, while also pushing for stronger sanctions against Russia.

⁠EU and UK Announce New Sanctions on Russia

In a conversation held at the Oxford Union, Malala Yousafzai reflected on her journey from a small town in Pakistan to becoming a global icon for education and women’s rights.

Malala explained that her activism began at a young age, not out of choice but out of necessity. She recalled how, when the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley, girls were banned from attending school. She said she had felt a deep sense of injustice and believed that staying silent would have meant agreeing with the oppression.
